The Panel assesses risks in the fields of animal health and animal welfare.
This group of specialists, among other things, gathers an overview and knowledge of infectious diseases that may threaten animal health and examines issues related to unfavorable production or living conditions for animals.

The Norwegian Scientific Committee for Food and Environment (VKM) carries out independent risk assessments for the Norwegian Food Safety Authority (Mattilsynet) and the Norwegian Environment Agency (Miljødirektoratet).
