This group of specialists evaluates risks associated with production methods, raw materials, additives, pathogens, sludge and fertilizer products, genetically modified organisms, and how the feed affects animal health, human health, and environmental impacts.

The Norwegian Scientific Committee for Food and Environment (VKM) carries out independent risk assessments for the Norwegian Food Safety Authority (Mattilsynet) and the Norwegian Environment Agency (Miljødirektoratet).
