There is no need to revise the conclusions in VKM’s risk assessments on chronic wasting disease (CWD), based on the report from the European Food Safety Authority, EFSA.
The Norwegian Scientific Committee for Food and Environment has written a statement upon request from the Norwegian Food Safety Authority, NFSA.
Background
EFSA has published an assessment on diagnostic methods for chronic wasting disease, CWD, and how valid the methods are.
All in all, VKM concludes that the evaluations of the animal and public health risks associated with CWD, as discussed in the reports from EFSA, correspond well with the assessments from VKM.
