Launch of risk assessment about Pink Salmon
The Norwegian Scientific Committee for Food and Environment (VKM) is presenting the report to its commissioners on January 15.
The Norwegian Environment Agency and the Norwegian Food Safety Authority have commissioned the risk assessment.
Pink salmon is a salmonid that naturally belongs in the Pacific ocean, but after introduction of the species in the north of Russia it has made its way to Norwegian waterways to spawn. In recent years, pink salmon has been observed in Norwegian salmon rivers. Alien species are considered to be one of the greatest threats to natural diversity. The report will be presented by VKM at a seminar hosted by the Norwegian Environment Agency at their premises in Trondheim on January 15.
The seminar is free, but the registration deadline is January 13.
Location: Brattørkaia 15
Time: 10 am - 11 am
Price: Free, registration by January 13.
Organizer: Norwegian Environment Agency and VKM
The seminar will be streamed. Read more and register here.
