Commissioned: 24.09.2025

Report no: VKM Bulletin 2025:24

Published: 29.10.2025

Key message:

Export of one live male grey wolf (Canis lupus) bred in captivity from a zoo in Norway to a zoo in the United Kingdom will not have a harmful effect on the conservation status of the species.

Thus concludes the Norwegian Scientific Committee for Food and Environment (VKM).

The assessment was commissioned by the Norwegian Environment Agency, which is the management authority for the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) in Norway.

VKM is the scientific authority for CITES in Norway and prepares non-detriment finding (NDF) reports in accordance with the methodology published by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and CITES.
