Main message:

The assessment of the genetically modified herbicide and insect tolerant maize hybrid NK603 x MON 810 from Monsanto (EFSA/GMO/UK/2004/01) was carried out by VKMs panel 3. There was an application to use the hybrid  in food and feed in Norway, and VKM was asked by the Directorate for Nature Management and the Norwegian Food Safety Authority to do a scientific risk assessment of NK603 x MON 810  considering potential effects on health and environment.
