Why you should participate
Risk-of-bias assessment is becoming a core skill for toxicologists. Systematic methods are now widely used in chemical risk assessment, and there is a growing demand for this expertise.
By taking part in INVITES-IN, you will:
- learn how to assess the quality of in vitro studies
- gain practical, hands-on experience
- contribute to an international research effort
- have the opportunity to be included as a co-author on a scientific publication
This is a rare opportunity to build skills that are highly relevant for both research and regulatory work.
What is INVITES-IN?
INVITES-IN is the first comprehensive tool designed to assess risk of bias in in vitro cell culture studies.
The tool is developed by the Norwegian Scientific Committee for Food and Environment (VKM) as part of a PARC-funded project, with support from EBTC.
The project is now entering its next phase: a large-scale user-testing and validation study.
What will you do?
As a participant, you will:
- receive training in risk-of-bias assessment methods
- apply the INVITES-IN tool to real studies
- contribute to testing and improving the tool
You do not need to be an expert in systematic review methods before joining—training is included.
Who should apply?
We are looking for participants who:
- work in toxicology or a related field
- have experience with or interest in in vitro methods
- want to develop skills in study quality assessment and systematic methods
Both early-career and experienced researchers are encouraged to apply.
Why this matters
Assessing risk of bias is essential for ensuring that scientific evidence is reliable and suitable for decision-making. These methods are increasingly used in chemical risk assessment and policy development.
Through INVITES-IN, you will gain practical experience in approaches that are shaping the future of toxicology.
