Webinar on PFAS 18 September 2023 - Save the Date

Webinar on PFAS 18. september 2023 in the Nordic region

What do we know about PFAS in the Nordic countries, and what can be done? These topics will be discussed in a webinar on September 18, 2023, organized by research institutions and food authorities in four Nordic countries.

PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances) encompass a wide range of fluorinated chemicals that have been used for decades and are still found in various products. These substances, also known as "forever chemicals," are chemically stable and persistently accumulate in humans, animals, and the environment, posing health risks.

During the webinar, researchers, food authorities, and chemical authorities will discuss the current knowledge about PFAS in the Nordic region. How does PFAS affect health? What are the risks? Where are PFAS found and to what extent? What actions are being taken by authorities, and how can PFAS be removed or avoided? What knowledge gaps exist, and what further research is needed?

The webinar is a joint event organized by the Danish National Food Institute at DTU, the Finnish Food Authority, the Norwegian Scientific Committee for Food and Environment, and the Swedish National Food Agency.
